So pleased you stopped by. I’m Lana Lê, an artist currently based in London. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to try different things, like designing CD and video packaging in Los Angeles, or creating marketing collateral for Bloomingdale’s and Estée Lauder in NYC. But my favorite (or is it ‘favourite’?) thing to do is make books, and I’m grateful that I get to draw and design books for clients such as Random House, Abrams, Hearst, Harper Collins, and Storey Publishing. I often work under the alias woolypear, a pseudonym based on my name: Lana in Italian = wool, and Lê means pear in Vietnamese.
A few years ago, our family moved to Australia from the United States, and I found myself starting over. Our new beginnings led me to develop my own projects:
Kidcandoodle.com is a doodle club I created to encourage and celebrate drawing. I was inspired by my own kids’ drawings — I admire how fearlessly children draw, not worrying about whether it looks “right,” as we do when we get older.
